THE RHINO STRATEGY CAN HELP TOURISM GROWTH IN ZAMBIA

By Patrick Soko

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Zambia is calling on the government to fully implement the National Rhino strategy as increased Rhino populations will also support tourism sector growth.

WWF Zambia Country Director Nachilala Nkombo has also appealed to the government to ensure that the 2021 National budget provides clear resourcing for the protection of endangered species such as the Black Rhino by ensuring that implementation of the national rhino strategy can be realized.

She anticipates that the 2021 budget will respond to building stronger resilience for our tourism sector, given the impacts and shocks suffered as a result of the C-19.

The WWF Zambia Country Director says given the importance of protecting this species, all critical stakeholders, and the general public needs to provide an enabling environment for the species to thrive.

She said this in a statement to mark the commemoration of the World Rhino Day that falls on 22 September each year
